We are located in the insurance district of the City of London, in close proximity to the Lloyd’s Building.
We can trace our history as a London Market insurance broker back 100 years to the initial registration of our predecessor company in 1918. Over the years the company changed name and ownership, with various historic Lloyd’s Brokers such as Edgar Hamilton and Byas Mosley becoming part of the business.
In 2016, we rebranded as Bishopsgate to underline our status as a separately regulated broker at Lloyd’s, and relaunched the business as an independent broker at Lloyd’s with new senior management.
With the creation in 2017 of Ardonagh, and its subsequent restructuring into business segments, in 2018 we became part of its Specialty segment.
This segment comprises Ardonagh’s wholesale broking businesses and provides certain internal functions to us, such as Finance & Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources and I.T. This allows us to benefit from the economies of scale and in-depth resources available through membership of a large and well-resourced group.
Our teams are small enough to be agile and responsive, and large enough to have a strong presence in the market.
